About Susan

Since 2002, I observed a troubling trend in pharma. R&D employees were less likely to be trained in how to manage and lead others as compared to their sales peers. I noticed a gap between a scientist’s technical excellence and people excellence undermining long-term performance excellence.

This is my unique focus: I am passionate about helping STEM women advance and getting a seat at the top of their organizations.

Discovery

My fascination with and respect for science started with my dad, Myron J. Morris (shown in the accompanying photo) an electronics engineer. At his basement workbench, Dad would try to teach me about resistors and transformers. However, none of it stuck. What did stick was his curiosity, inventiveness and enthusiasm for science. Although I did not become an engineer, my connection to the sciences was grounded in this life experience.

Development

My first professional career was teaching history to inner-city high school students. After seven years, I made a career pivot to manage in-house professional development training for several healthcare organizations. I made a second career pivot into consulting and coaching to pharmaceutical companies.

Launch

I started the Susan Morris Coaching, LLC in 2002. My passion is supporting women in STEM to get a seat at the top of their organizations. I’ve undertaken rigorous preparation to become an internationally certified professional coach. The lessons learned from my dad still resonate: love what you do, be kind, and dream big.
